QuickBooks Online: Getting Started

A quick tour of the QBO dashboard covering where to find key features so you can start managing your business finances right away. Great for brand new users.

How to Invite Your Accountant to QBO

Step-by-step walkthrough for giving your DHA accountant access to your QuickBooks company file. This is the first thing new clients need to do when getting started with us.

Before you start: You must be the Primary Admin or Company Admin on the account to complete these steps.

1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online account at quickbooks.intuit.com
2. Click the Gear icon (⚙) in the top right corner of the screen
3. Select “Manage Users” from the dropdown menu
4. Click the “Accounting Firms” tab — this is separate from the regular Users tab and does not count toward your user limit
5. Click “Invite” and enter your accountant’s email address — for DHA clients, send to your DHA contact’s email address
6. Click Save — QuickBooks will send an email invitation to your accountant
7. Let your DHA contact know the invite has been sent so they can watch for it

Once your accountant accepts the invitation, their status will change from “Invited” to “Active” on your Manage Users page.

Helpful tips:
• You can invite up to 2 accounting firms on most QBO plans
• If you don’t see the Accounting Firms tab, try opening QBO in a private/incognito browser window
• If your accountant doesn’t receive the invite within a few minutes, check that the email address is correct and use the Resend Invitation option
